Production Manager

About the Role

Garlic runs through everything we do here at AGP, literally. We grow it, process it, pack it, and take enormous pride in getting it to our customers on time and to spec. To keep all of that humming along, we’re looking for an experienced and capable Production Manager to help lead operations across our Iraak Factory and Goulding’s Site.

This is a hands-on leadership role where no two days smell quite the same (we mean that literally and figuratively). You’ll be accountable for the full production cycle from line start-up through to end-of-shift housekeeping while keeping your team safe, supported, and working to our food safety and quality standards.

What You’ll Do

Day-to-Day Operations

  • Direct Production Line Supervisors and Forklift Drivers on daily run schedules, ensuring lines are up and product is on by the nominated start time.
  • Support line supervisors through product changeovers and equipment issues, keeping downtime to an absolute minimum.
  • Liaise with the Batch Controller to ensure accurate batch information is captured and tracked throughout production.
  • Ensure all product is correctly labelled and put away
  • Roster the next day’s production and keep the schedule running smoothly.

Quality, Compliance & Food Safety

  • Ensure all staff operate in line with GMP, HACCP, OHS and SQF standards.
  • Oversee completion of all line checks, production documentation, and batch records before end of shift.
  • Ensure non-conformances are escalated promptly and all maintenance issues are logged in SafetyCulture immediately.
  • Be actively involved in the creation and implementation of SOPs.
  • Conduct regular Toolbox Talks and ensure all staff training plans are current.
  • Lead, coach, and develop your team - Production Line Supervisors, Forklift Drivers, and support staff.
  • Manage factory security and coordinate housekeeping and routine cleaning.
  • Work with the Maintenance Manager to ensure preventative maintenance is completed ahead of seasonal peaks.
  • Support the Processing & Facility Manager and collaborate closely with the Quality Control team.
  • Champion AGP’s values of Innovation, Teamwork, Quality, Integrity, Diversity, and Sustainability.

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to have grown up on a garlic farm, but experience in food production or agribusiness is a genuine advantage. More importantly, we’re after someone who ticks these boxes:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven leadership experience in a production, processing, or manufacturing environment.
  • The ability to work under pressure without passing that pressure on to everyone else.
  • A sharp eye for detail, particularly around documentation, specifications, and record keeping.
  • Confidence to work unsupervised and make sound decisions in real time.
  • A calm, team-first leadership style that gets the best out of people.
  • A full-time, permanent role with a well-established and growing Australian agribusiness.
  • A varied and genuinely important leadership position. Not just a title on a door.
  • All tools and equipment provided by the company.
  • The opportunity to work with a dedicated team who take real pride in what they produce.
  • Access to novated car leasing
  • A workplace that lives its values around inclusion, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
