OHS Professional

Large-Scale Agriculture & Food Manufacturing | Australian-Owned

This WHS/OHS role is ideal for an experienced professional, or for someone with strong potential who is ready to step up with the right support and guidance.

We’re seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Health & Safety Manager to lead safety across our farming and manufacturing operations. This role reports to the Executive Compliance Manager and plays a critical part in protecting our people, product, and business.

While the responsibility is significant, the environment is supportive. We’re a modern, evolving business with a strong people-first mindset, an enjoyable culture, and the backing to do safety properly and practically, not performatively.

If you’re comfortable operating in complex, Face paced environments and enjoy building strong relationships along the way, this role offers both rewarding challenge’s and influence.

The Role

You will take ownership of the WHS/OHS function across multiple sites, working closely with operational leaders, HR, and Executive Management to embed strong, practical safety systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, implementing, and continuously improving WHS/OHS policies, procedures, and management systems.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, Codes of Practice, and relevant industry standards.
  • Provide expert WHS/OHS advice and support to department heads in meeting & exceeding compliance requirements related to HACCP, ISO certifications, SEDEX, and other third-party audits.
  • Conducting risk assessments, audits, inspections, and safety reviews across large-scale agricultural and manufacturing operations.
  • Leading incident investigations, reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Providing expert advice on machinery safety, manual handling, chemical management, contractor safety, and agricultural risks.
  • Coordinating and delivering inductions, toolbox talks, and targeted safety training.
  • Driving a strong safety culture through coaching, engagement, and visible leadership.
  • Supported by the HR Manager, Lead workers compensation and return-to-work programs.
  • Liaising with regulators, auditors, insurers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in WHS and broader business processes

About You

You’re experienced, credible, and practical. You understand legislation, audits, and real-world operations and you know how to positively influence people.

You’ll bring:

  • Qualifications in WHS/OHS (Cert IV, Diploma, or higher).
  • Strong experience in large-scale agriculture, manufacturing, food production, or similar high-risk industries.
  • Sound working knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management principles.
  • Demonstrated experience with HACCP, ISO standards, SEDEX, and external auditing bodies.
  • Confidence navigating complex WHS/OHS issues and making balanced, well-reasoned decisions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage at all levels of the business.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work autonomously across multiple sites and adapt to seasonal operational demands.

You take safety seriously, but you also understand that good culture matters.

What Success Looks Like in 12 Months

After your first year, success in this role looks like:

  • WHS systems that are embedded, understood, and working in practice, not just on paper.
  • Strong audit outcomes across, with confidence and calm around external reviews.
  • Improved incident reporting quality and clear, effective corrective actions.
  • Operational leaders and teams engaged in safety conversations, not avoiding them.
  • Clear visibility of WHS risks, trends, and performance through meaningful reporting.
  • A noticeable shift toward proactive safety behaviours across sites.
  • Trusted partnerships with HR, operations, and Executive leadership.

In short: safety is organised, credible, and respected across the business.

Why Apply?

  • You’ll work for an Australian-owned and operated business, producing products you can be proud of.
